KYOTO

Incorporating a plaza atmosphere conducive to leisurely strolls
Commemorating Kyoto's 1200th anniversary, the building was rebuilt as a complex containing a hotel, department store, cultural facilities, and parking lot. The station building, 470 m wide, is the largest in Japan. A concourse is flanked by an ascending staircase and terraced floors forming an expansive and focused atrium space.
Photo:470 meters long, 59.8 meters high. The long, horizontal exterior is impressive.
