A series of nature restoration facilities using the site where earth was removed to build seaside area between Odaka and Kobe. The core facilities of this Awajishima International Garden City include an international conference hall and hotel.

Osaka International Convention Center
The center's earthquake-resistant design incorporates a damping structure as well as features to minimize damage. Its atrium plaza with many trees provides an open feel that is in harmony with the greenery of Nakanoshima.

Osaka Maritime Museum
This maritime museum's basic theme is the history of Osaka maritime exchange. It has on display a life-size reconstruction of an Edo-period cargo vessel. The spherical museum building on the sea is reached through an underwater passageway.

Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum
The building is set into the land, taking into consideration differences in elevation to make it part of the natural environment. The dinosaur hall is a vast space to use for large exhibitions.

The Kansai-kan, with a large storage capacity and electronic library functions, will provide library services to meet the demands of the highly advanced information society of the 21st century. The abundant greenery and transparency of the glass exterior blend well with the surroundings.
