Tempozan Harbor Village
An inverted cone-like structure housing a spherical IMAX theater, the eye-catching Suntory Museum with its gallery and restaurant wings pointing seaward, the Hotel Seagull Tempozan, where every room overlooks Osaka Bay and large Kaiyukan aguarium. These structures define the waterfront area.

Beginning at the underground level, this museum provides visitors with an interactive experience for learning about flow patterns and roles of the sewerage system as they continue through displays on each floor. The outdoor water area features water that has undergone high-level processing.

Not a single artificial light is used in this building, only natural light from skylights. The light changes with the time of day and with the seasons, for an evolving natural atmosphere in which to view the paintings. The museum closes at sunset.

The theme of this museum to Japan's burial mounds is "experiencing one's surroundings." The facade presents a huge stepped plaza and tower; inside, the exhibition room located at the bottom of a set of stairs gives one the feeling of entering a modern-day burial mound.

The wooden Shoin-style design with copper roofing emphasizes a traditional Japanese style. The interior, designed to protect the items on exhibition, uses state-of-the-art technology.
